Lavonne Faye Cox, 72, of Roanoke, passed away peacefully and suddenly at Lewis Gale Hospital on Tuesday, September 16, 2014.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Alverda Brown; and her father, Meek Davis Corder.

Those left to cherish her memory and special life are her sons, Wesley D. Artrip and wife, Fhonda, and Michael W. Artrip; and Leisa C. Cox and Terri Gail Cox who she considered as her own daughters; her special grandchildren, Stephanie Marie Artrip and John Talmadge Mathis were her heart and soul; nieces and nephews, family and friends, near and far were her celebration of life. Special friends Howard Artrip and Jerry Smith were always there for her during the challenges she faced near the end.
Her love of life and giving to all those around her can only be described as divine spirit. God gave us a blessed life with her and now she is with him and shining down on all our lives.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. on Friday, September 19, 2014 at Oakey’s North Chapel, with Pastor Scott Lyons officiating. The interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family will be receiving friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Oakey’s North Chapel.
