KAYSVILLE--Harvey Harold Ashmead, age 81, passed away Sunday, January 18, 1998 in the Davis Hospital and Medical Center in Layton, Utah.

He was born August 4, 1916 in Coral, Idaho, the son of Charles Nathan and Bertha McCracken Ashmead. He married Allez Morrill, September 24, 1940 in Logan, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Harvey resided in Idaho and Colorado, prior to settling in Utah. He was a High Priest in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He received a Ph.D in pharmacy, in biochemistry, and in nutrition. He was founder of Albion Laboratories, on the board of directors of numerous corporations and civic organizations. He was an author, a pioneer in chelation chemistry as related to nutrition, and was awarded over 40 patents for research. He developed the first topical application for penicillin, and was nominated for the Nobel award. He was recognized by the United Nations and other world governments for his contributions to humanity. His biography appears in several volumes of Who's Who.

Harvey was a talented artist who enjoyed creating wood and bronze sculptures. All of his life he loved nature and all kinds of sports, lettering in several during high school. He also enjoyed music, and had a choice sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Allez, Kaysville; one son, H. DeWayne (Jill) Ashmead, Fruit Heights; three daughters, Sheryl (John Paul) Harames, Hooper; Z. Janeel A. (David) Henderson, Hyde Park; and Emma A. (Jerry) Broadfoot, Rigby, Idaho; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 1998 at 1 p.m. at the Kaysville LDS 9th Ward, 201 So. 600 E. Friends and family may call Wednesday at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 No. Main, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 11 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. prior to services. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
