She was born on Aug. 6, 1921, in Fredonia, Texas, the daughter of Lewis Farmer Cates and Lola Mae Brown Cates. She was a homemaker and had lived in Brownwood since 1965, and formerly lived in Brady. Iris Lee was a member of the Austin Church of Christ and the Early Church of Christ.
She is survived by her son, Roy D. Finlay of Early; sister, Joyce Hallford of Wylie, Colorado; two grandchildren, Debra Patton and husband, Kevin, of Cedar Hill, and John Finlay, of Victoria; one great-grandson, Devin Patton of Cedar Hill and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Lee Finlay; one son, Jerry Ray Finlay; her parents, Lewis and Lola Mae Cates; two brothers and one sister.
