Practicing medicine in Rexburg and Blackfoot, Dr. LaVar Withers, 68, of Rexburg died at the Madison Memorial Hospital. Born in Salem to David John and Adalena Madsen Withers, he attending grade in Rexburg and Jackson Hole Wyoming. Graduating from Madison High School, Class of 1955, Ricks College and Brigham Young University, he received his medical degree from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pa.
In the Idaho Falls Temple August 21, 1958 he married Marlene Hoopes. An active member of the LDS Church, he served in many callings. Enjoying camping, yard work, wood work and spending time with family, he is survived by his wife, Marlene, children: Kathy (Wyn) Seeley, Kevin (Colleen) Withers, Karyn (Scott) Smith, Kirsten (Brandon) Smith; his step-mother, Ruth Withers; siblings, Dart D. (Carol) Withers, Boyd J. (LaRae) Withers, Marilyn (Cloy) Bagley, Morris K. (Suzanne) Withers; and eight grandchildren. His parents predeceased LaVar.
