Lawrence Edward Hubbard, 89, of Grant, passed away on September 15, 2014 at Grant Fountainview. He was born on October 7, 1924 to Frank and Alma (Kitner) Hubbard in Coral, Michigan. He graduated from Grant High School and earned an associates degree from Grand Rapids Junior College. Lawrence worked as a Die Maker for General Motors until his retirement in 1989. On July 14, 1949 he married Ilene Chase in Grant. Lawrence was a veteran having served during World War II from October 6, 1943 to March 7, 1946 when he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class. He was a member of Grant Wesleyan Church. Lawrence is survived by his loving spouse of 65 years Ilene, his three daughters Vicky (Don) Newton of Bailey, Susan (Dan) Hilbrand of Grant, Marlene (Dave) Osburn of Grant; his son Lawrence (Ileen) Hubbard Jr. of Grant; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; his two sisters Marie Brown of Grand Rapids, Virginia (David) Evans of Grant; his three brothers Leon (Jean) Hubbard of Twin Lake, Ken (Naye) Hubbard of Grant, Roger (Marie) Hubbard of Newaygo; his brother-in-law Chet Ring of OH; his sister-in-law Ruth (Darrold) Whitney of Newaygo. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Alma Hubbard, his brother Keith Hubbard, brother-in-law Bob Brown, sister Elaine Ring, brother Howard Hubbard, sister Ruth Ida Hubbard, and 4 great-children.
