Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth Shipley, age 73, of Poplar Springs, Md., passed away Sunday, Sept. 14, 2014, at NMS Health Care in Hagerstown. She was the beloved wife of the late James Marvin Shipley.

Born September 29, 1940, in Poplar Springs she was a daughter of the late Sherman Maynard, and Alta E. Molesworth Mullinix.

Margaret was a graduate of Lisbon High School. She was a school bus contractor for Howard County, and a school bus driver since 1971. Margaret was a longtime member of Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, and had played the organ there since she was sixteen years of age. Her favorite time of the year was springtime, and her favorite pastime was working in her flower gardens and spending time with her grandchildren.

Surviving her are two daughters Lisa J. Pickett and Laurie M. Wagner, and three grandchildren, Jamie L. Pickett, Howard L. Pickett and Jimmy E. Wagner.

Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday, September 19, at Molesworth-Williams P.A., Funeral Home, 26401 Ridge Road, Damascus, Maryland 20872. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 20, at Poplar Springs United Methodist Church, 915 East Watersville Road, Mount Airy, Maryland 21771. Reverend Bob Cook her pastor will officiate. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family request that in lieu of flowers memorial contributions be made in Margaret’s name to Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, New York 10018.
