EVERETT, Pa. — Vivian P. Berkheimer Evans, 79, died Monday, Sept. 15, 2014 at UPMC Bedford.

Born in Ellerslie, her family moved to the Cooks Mills area Hyndman shortly after. She was a daughter of the late Lee and Elsie Hyre. She was also preceded in death by her first husband in 1990, Merle Berkheimer; a son-in-law, Gary Leap; and a grandson, Troy Leap.


In 2010 she moved to Spring House Estates, Everett where she and her husband Vince were greeted by a wonderful staff and the finest residents you would ever want to meet and share time with.

She is survived by husband, Vincent L. Evans of Everett; children, Steven Berkheimer and wife, Elaine of Colorado Springs, Colo., Cindy Yoder and husband Richard of Hyndman, Susie May and husband Todd of Buffalo Mills; step-children, Robert Evans and wife Karen of Bowie, Mark Evans and wife Gail, Neil Evans and wife Nichole all of Baltimore, Erik Evans of Annapolis; grandchildren, Jonathan and Allison May, Tyler and Megan Leap, Rebecca and Adam Darr, James and Stephanie Riggs, Suzanne and Michael Church; great-grandchildren, Lena May, Bentley Darr, Tristen Riggs, and Gavin Church; step-grandchildren, Mark, Katie, Robert, Matthew, Abby, and Mia Evans; a sister, Bonnie Bridges of Hyndman and many nieces and nephews

Vivian was a 1952 graduate of Hyndman High School. She worked at Cut Rate Shoe Store, Horners Market, Mays Manns Choice Grocery, and Kay Hyde Ceramics. She was a RSVP Volunteer at Hyndman Library, a past member of Hyndman Grange, Cooks Mills united Methodist Church, Elementary Sunday School Teacher, Ladies Missions president and served on church council; auxiliary member of Gideons International, she currently attended Penwood Bible Church, Everett.

Friends will be received at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, Inc., 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

A funeral service will be conducted at the Cooks Mills United Methodist Church, Cooks Mills Rd., Hyndman on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Dave Klink officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow at Porter Cemetery, Hyndman. With Jonathan and Todd May, Richard Yoder, Tyler Leap, Ronald and Jeff Bridges serving as pallbearers.
