Lavern Ann Pomajzl Neihart, 80 year old Worland resident, passed away on September 12, 2014 in Salt Lake City, UT.

Lavern was born on September 12, 1934 at Crete, Nebraska to Steve and Anna Baloun Pomajzl. She attended school in Crete and graduated from Crete High School in 1952. She was a member of the National Honor Society. She was employed as a secretary at the Crete Mills office during her senior year of high school and after graduation.

Lavern married Donald Dean Neihart October 12, 1952 at Grace Methodist Church in Crete. They had three children: David Dean, Debra Ann and Douglas Jay. The family lived in Crete, Chadron and Gering, Nebraska before moving to Laramie, Wyoming in 1965 and to Worland, Wyoming in 1966.

Lavern worked for Federal Aviation Administration, USDA Forest Service, Farmers Home Administration, Bureau of Land Management and as Director of the Worland Senior Citizens Center. She received awards for her loyal and dedicated service, outstanding accomplishments and for an employee suggestion that was adopted nationwide.

Lavern was actively involved with her family, in the community and throughout the state. She was a member of the United Methodist Church where she served as Secretary, Liturgist, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Group Sponsor, Administrative Council Chairman, staff-parish relations committee chairman, Finance Chairman, Circle Chairman of Woman Society of Christian Services, and on the Missions and Social Concerns Committee. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother, Bluebird Leader, Girl Scout Leader, and a volunteer with the Gering Junior Chamber of Commerce working with handicapped children.

She served on the American Legion Auxiliary National Executive Committee and as Northwest Division Chairman. She was president of the State of Wyoming, District 4 and Floyd Minch Unit 44 of the American Legion Auxiliary and State director of Wyoming Girls State. She served as President, Corresponding Secretary, and on project appointments and committees of Chapter AH, P.E.O.

She served as Interim President of the State of Wyoming AARP, Chairman of the AARP State Legislative Committee and was Vice-Chairman of Absaroka Head Start Board of Directors. She received the AARP Andrus Award for community Builders Award and the Absaroka Head Start Humanitarian Award.

She was a caring person, always ready to help others. Her heart was filled with love for her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandsons. Her pride and joy was her family. Her favorite past times were times with family and friends, reading, knitting, gardening, traveling, fishing and camping.

Lavern was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her loving husband Donald of 62 years; sons David(Brenda) Neihart of Cody and Douglas (Maureen) Neihart of Singapore; daughter Debra (Brian) Eggleston of Riverton; grandchildren, Robert (Amy) Neihart of Helena, MT. Michael (Abby)) Neihart of Cody, and great-grandsons Jackson Dean Neihart of Helena and Braxston Michael Neihart of Cody, brother Joseph (Jeanne) Pomajzl of Cody; sister Norma (Donald) Hopkins of Escanaba, MI; brother-in-laws, sister-in-law, nieces and nephews.
