Leroy C. Hartman, 99, formerly of the Town of Rhine, died Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Pine Haven Christian Home, Sheboygan Falls.

He was born April 15, 1912 in the Town of Rhine, son of the late Robert and Augusta (Sinner) Hartman.

Leroy attended Maple Corner School.

On November 18, 1941, he married the former, Jeanette Doro in St. Louis MO.
Leroy and Jeanette farmed together in the Town of Rhine. He later worked at Hayssen Mfg. and after his retirement he worked at Feldmann Engineering and Road America for many years. Leroy and Jeanette spent 57 years together before she preceded him in death on December 15, 1998.

Leroy was a member at Bethel UCC. He enjoyed playing sheepshead in various card clubs and going dancing. He had a great love for spending time with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. He was a hard worker who enjoyed being outdoors, especially in his garden or most importantly deer hunting. He also enjoyed taking rides and going out to eat with his nephew, Vernon Rietbrock.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandra (James) Knier of Kiel; a son-in-law, Richard Pieper of Howards Grove; eight grandchildren, Cary (Tony) Johannes, Shelly (Victor) Schueller both of Kiel, Travis (Jamie) Knier of Sheboygan, Jason Pieper and special friend, Jamie Otto of Kiel, Joshua, Jonathan, Jesse and Jeremy Pieper all of Howards Grove; four great- grandchildren, Brianna and Ava Schueller, Addison Johannes and Amelie Jeanty-Knier. Leroy is also survived by a sister-in-law, Sally Hartman of Plymouth; a brother-in-law, Wallace (Margaret) Doro of Sheboygan, numerous nieces, nephews other relative and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeanette, a daughter, Sharon Hartman Pieper; one infant son and one infant grandson.

Funeral services for Albert will be held on Wednesday April 27, 2011 at Bethel UCC in Elkhart Lake with the Rev Jim Liddle officiating. Burial in the Church Cemetery.
