Jon A. Moore of Sanford, N.C., passed away at the Robert Packer Hospital December 15, 2006 following a brief illness.
Jon was born June 15, 1944 in Sayre, the son of the late Lyle and Betty (Duff) Moore. He was a graduate of Sayre High School and Mansfield University. He served in the U.S. Air Force from 1964-1970. Jon was employed as the Lee County land records manager for many years, retiring in 2004.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Janice Hall Moore and his infant son Jamy.
Jon is survived by: his sisters, Bonnie Garrity and her husband, Edward, Betsy Schumacher, and Theresa Nobles and her husband, Edward, all of Sayre; nephews, Craig Havens of Huntsville, Ala., and Eddie, Greg, and Lyle Garrity, all of Sayre; Beth Garrity of Sayre; and Stephanie Senft of Winter Park, Fla.
Jon lived in North Carolina for 31 years and leaves behind a host of devoted friends, including his poker group, Dan and Jackie Brown, Marvin Ricketson and Sue Sloan, former coworkers at Lee County, David Chang and his very kind and caring friend, Judy Dalrymple.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 23, 2006 at 6:30 p.m. at the Church of the Redeemer, 201 S. Wilbur Ave., Sayre, with the Rev. Benjamin Lentz officiating. The family will receive friends one half-hour prior to the service. Interment with full military honors will be held in Tioga Point Cemetery, Athens, on Tuesday, December 26, 2006.at 1 p.m.
The family suggests that, if desired, memorial contributions may be made to Guthrie Hospice, RR 1 Box 154, Towanda, PA 18848.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Blauvelt Funeral Home, 126 N. Elmer Ave., Sayre.
