Anna May Kingsley

Anna May Kingsley, 88, of Edina, died Thursday morning April 11, 1991, in the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 1991, at the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina. The Rev. Robert Stephens of Edina officiated the services. Music was provided by Karen Stone, soloist and Ed Anderson, Organist. Burial was in the Harmony Cemetery southeast of Edina.

The daughter of Henry and Sadie Miller Akins, she was born April 1, 1903, in Knox County. On March 6, 1923, near Novelty, she married Leslie Nathan Kingsley and he preceded her in death October 30, 1966.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Thelma May and Eugene Mathena of Milan, Ill.; six grandchildren, Brent Eugene Mathena, Kevin Mark Mathena, Sherri Dawn Mathena, Leslie James Kingsley, Neva Newton and Ray Kingsley; three sisters, Ruth Pettit and Sylvia Davis, both of Huron, South Dakota and Maudie Caudill of Portsmouth, Ohio and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Leslie Raymond Kingsley in 1951 and Wilfred Clayton Kingsley in infancy; four sisters and two brothers.

Mrs. Kingsley was reared in Knox County and attended school in Plevna. She and her husband were engaged in farming in the Baring community until in the 1940's, when they moved to Edina.

Mrs. Kingsley was a member of the Harmony Methodist Church.

Casket bearers were Leslie Kingsley, Ray Kingsley, Carl Kingsley, Lewis Davis, Brent Mathena and Kevin Mathena.
