Memorial services were held Saturday, for Buffalo resident, Wendy Anne Esponda, 52, who passed away, Tuesday, Nov. 2, at the Johnson County Healthcare Center in Buffalo.
The services were held at the Buffalo High School auditorium with Rev. John Constantine officiating. A private family interment will take place at a later date.
Esponda was born Feb. 18, 1958, in Buffalo, to Richard and Beverly Condit. She grew up and attended school in Buffalo graduating from Johnson County High School in 1976. After high school she spent one year in Bolivia as a Rotary Exchange Student. She attended Wartburg College in Waverly Iowa and the University of Wyoming before transferring to Eastern Montana College in Billings where she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in education and business. After college she taught in Clearmont and later in Sheridan. She was married Aug. 5, 1983, in Buffalo, to Mitch Esponda and they made their home in Buffalo. In 2005 she began teaching Spanish in Buffalo and continued until the time of her death.
Esponda shared her love of languages and travel with many students over the years. She was on the board of the Jim Gatchell Museum. She volunteered at the Summer Art Guild and was the coordinator from 2002 to 2008. An active member in the Union Congregational Church she motivated the church to be involved in the Compassion International program. She loved music art and taking photos. Esponda could often be seen behind the camera taking pictures at sports events, concerts and at family gatherings.
She is survived by two sons Mitchell and Kasey Esponda, both of Buffalo, two brothers Steve Condit and his wife Linda of Seattle and Brett Condit and his wife Therese of Camano Island Wash, two sisters Terry Brooks and her husband Allen of Buffalo and Mandy Stinson and her husband Glen of Powell and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Donations may be made to the Wendy Esponda Memorial Education Fund for her sons in care of Adams Funeral Home at 351 N Adams in Buffalo.
