Obituary
Garrett Rogers, 14, of Garland, passed away Sept. 9, 2014. Garrett was born in Garland, TX and was a student at Garland HS where his athleticism was well known. He was very adept at playing many sports, especially soccer and football where Garrett was an outside linebacker for the Garland Owls football team. He loved to work out and participate in any outdoor pastime where he could showcase his talent for any physical activity. Garrett also loved professional sports; he was an avid fan of the Seattle Seahawks, Texas Longhorns and his own team, the Owls. His sense of humor was evident when he joked around with friends; Garrett was also an intelligent and analytically minded young man always looking for the answers to questions both in school and in life. He was tough and scared of nothing, he would face any fear or challenge with an attitude of confidence. His devotion to his fellow teammates was rivaled only by his devotion to his brothers. The youngest of three boys, and nicknamed daddy’s ‘babies’, Garrett was the one they could count on during the good times and the bad. Garrett had a huge heart that knew no bounds and had enough love for anyone and everyone that he met. All who knew him know that he was a generous, kind, and compassionate guardian on earth to each person privileged to know him, and it is comforting to know that Garrett is now an even greater guardian over us all in Heaven.

Garrett was met in Heaven by his grandmothers: Patricia Mallett and Charlotte Williams and great grandmothers: Beatrice Halford and June Sone.

He leaves, to cherish his eternal legacy, his devoted parents: Michael and Cathy Rogers; beloved brothers: Thomas and Dillon Rogers; grandparents: Terry and Peggy Benford and Carl Williams; aunt, Summer Shehane; uncle, Patrick Benford and wife Dawn; cousins: Elizabeth Benford, Carl Trent, Katelynn and Charles Shehane; his Garland Owls teammates as well as a host of other friends who loved him and will miss him dearly.
