Russ worked as a bellhop at the Olympic Hotel. After trying his hand at motel management and restaurant ownership, Russ found his true love as a machinist. He worked on the first 747 built at The Boeing Company. From a successful career as a machinist he ventured into the world of Real Estate retiring as an agent in 1980.
Russ married Sylvia Moore Breshears in 1978. He waited for Sylvia to finish her career with the Bellevue School District to start their travel plans. During their 32 year marriage the couple spent the next 18 years traveling. They visited all fifty of the United States of America as well as touring all the Canadian Providences. Multiple trips to Mexico, four cruises to the Caribbean, Alaska, Hawaii, Panama and a visit to the United Kingdom exploring family roots in England, Ireland, Scotland, and Wales.
Russ and Sylvia are founding members of Silver Glen Cooperative for Active Seniors in Bellevue spending the last sixteen years enjoying life with their many new found friends. Together they found fellowship at The Neighborhood Church.
Preceded in death by his parents, Archibald and Edith, his step-mother Phyllis, three brothers, Wallace, Warren, Garnet, a sister Marguerite, Gladys Ashton Snow, and a step-son Dale Breshears. Russ is survived by his wife Sylvia, his brother Gordon, his son Garnet, step-son Robert Moore, daughter-in-laws Jean Snow and Carolyn Moore, four grandsons Aaron and Tyler Snow, Jeffery and Brian Moore their wives Angela and Barbara, seven great grandchildren Tarik and Sophia Snow, Skylar, Elissa, Emily, Nathan and Shelby Moore. Numerous Nieces and nephews and their families.
Memorial services will be held at Sunset Hills Funeral Home, 1215-145th Place SE, Bellevue, Washington at 9:30 am on April 15, 2010 with a Celebration of Life at Silver Glen Cooperative, 1750-152nd Ave NE, Bellevue, Washington following the memorial service.
