Mr. Chewning retired from the United States Army Company F 425 Infantry, retired as a Firefighter with General Motors Corporation and later retired as Captain at the Tri-City Fire Department. He was a long time member of the West Bloomfield United Methodist Church, and had served on the Board of Trustees and also the Board of Ushers at the church. Mr. Chewning was a member of the 82nd Airborne Association, was a member of the Goodfellows, and was a volunteer with the Tri-City Fire Department for 26 years.
