Cecil Jay Lane, 92, Logansport, passed away at 1:36 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 11, 2014, in Kindred of Greenfield.

Born July 6, 1922, in Rensselaer, he was the son of the late Lee and Lois (Dumm) Lane. On June 20, 1944, in the St. Luke's (Trinity) Lutheran Church, he was married to Kathryn Helena "Kate" Stephens, who preceded him in death April 4, 2012.

Cec was a 1940 graduate of Logansport High School. During World War II, he proudly served in the U.S. Army. He had been employed at Logan Machine and Alpha Industries before becoming a mail carrier in 1957. In 1982, he retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 25 years on a walking route.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Since 1936, Cec had been a longtime member of Logansport's Tipton Masonic Lodge No. 33. He was also a member of the Royal Center Order of Eastern Star and the American Legion Post 60.

Surviving are two sons, Thomas (Diane) Lane, Logansport, and Michael (Martha) Lane, Indianapolis; grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandsons, with two great-great-grandbabies on the way; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was also preceded in death by one granddaughter, Kathryn Michelle Lane Lopez; and two brothers, Robert Lee Lane and Francis "Dyril" Lane.
