From the Craig Mirror-Friday, August 16, 1907:

"Died, at her home near Craig on Friday, August 9th, 1907, Mildred Eva Downey, daughter of George and Corda Downey, aged one year, 11 months, and nine days.

She was born September 1, 1905, and during the past few weeks suffered much pain, and then the little innocent one was called to that beautiful home beyond the river of death to enjoy an eternity in the home of one who said "Let the little ones come unto me and forbid them not for such is the Kingdom of Heaven." We must remember that dust to dust thou shalt return was not spoken of the soul. Let us then think of her as not lost to us but only gone on before.

Little Mildred was a bright, sweet baby, and to see her was but to love her. She was sick but a few days, yet she suffered so intensely that death must have been a relief to her.

The funeral services were conducted Sunday from the New Liberty Baptist Church by Rev. R. Barrett of Skidmore."
