Beverly Blanche Carr, 86, of rural Johnson County, MO, died September 12, 2014, peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, while under hospice care. Beverly was born in Denver, CO., on May 26, 1928, to Erwin John and Ona Lucina (Smith) McFarland. She was a 1945 graduate of Paseo High School, and attended both Southwest Baptist College, and Bob Jones University in South Carolina; which started her life long love of traveling. In 1954 Beverly married the love of her life, Rinaldo E. Carr Jr., of Augusta, ME., at Tabernacle Baptist Church, K. C. MO. Her honeymoon reaffirmed her love of travel and introduced her to one of her all time favorite places-Augusta, ME. Her working career took her from F.W. Woolworth and Emery Bird Thayer, to a ten year position as secretary to legal counsel at Inter-State Bakeries making many friends due to her kind heart and smile she always wore. Her loving disposition and gentle nature made her perfect for the position of Nursery Supervisor at Tabernacle Baptist Church and gave her the opportunity to practice spoiling her future 10 grandchildren. After working 32 years for the federal government, Beverly retired in 1997. She had worked in various departments; IRS, Marine Pay Center, and the Department of Agriculture. Her strong work ethic and determination even had her going back to school at the age of 60 to receive a higher grade. She made many friends and was always highly regarded due to her sunny disposition and always present smile. Beverly grew up during the Great Depression, World War II, and many other significant historic periods. Due to this she never took for granted all the blessings she received from her heavenly father above. She exemplified the 10 virtues of a Proverbs 31 woman, always cheerfully serving God and devoting her energy to her husband, family, friends and neighbors She passed these values on to her three children, often sacrificing without complaint and always with joy. God rewarded her by fulfilling her love of travel with trips to the United Kingdom, Normandy, France, Vancouver, British Columbia, Alaska, and Nova Scotia. She was always ready to load-up the van, and with her husband Rinaldo, take numerous trips all over the United States to see friends and relatives. Her favorite trips however where always when she visited and spoiled her grandchildren. She was affectionately known as "Big Momma" by her great-grandchildren. She is survived by one son, Rinaldo Carr (Kathy), of Holden, MO; daughters, Wendy Masek (Doug) of Las Vegas NV and Barrie Glazebrook (Tim) of Cantonment,FL; a brother, John McFarland (Teresa) of Parker CO; a sister Cheryl Hutchison (Mike) of Florissant, CO; 10 grandchildren, 2 Great-grandchildren, and numerous Nieces, Nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; a younger brother Erwin McFarland; her beloved husband, Rinaldo; and a great number of cherished relatives and friends, many long gone, but never forgotten. Beverly will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to have known her. Graveside services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014 at 3:00 P.M. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, Higginsville, Missouri. Memorials are suggested to Enon Baptist Church - Pittsville, MO or Johnson County Hospice. Condolences may be emailed to the family at: [email protected]
