Arthur Buckle, 93, of Sheridan died Tuesday evening, March 7 at Liberty Village Retirement Home in Princeton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 14 with Pastor Sally Chipman officiating at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, Ltd in Sheridan. (815) 496-2003. Burial will be at the Elerding Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7pm. Monday, March 13 at the funeral home.
Arthur was born March 19, 1912 in Sheridan to Harry and Edith (Bjorklund) Buckle. Arthur farmed all his life east of Sheridan. He married Jane Gillham July 16, 1938 in Maywood California. Jane died this past Sunday, March 5. He was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, Occidental Lodge #40 AF & AM, the Eastern Star, past trustee of the Mission Twp, board and past treasurer for the Newark Fire District.
He is survived by his daughter, Beverly (Larry) Eden of Hennepin; his son, Howard Buckle of Sheridan; three grandchildren, Mark (Rebecca) Buckle of Orland Park, Traci Buckle of Pohoa, Hawaii, Sarah (Lee) Friedman of Skokie; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jane; two brothers, Howard Buckle and Norman Buckle; and a sister, Edith Bowen.
Pallbearers will be Dwight Arneson, Verle Hallet, Jim Bristol, Mick Johnson, Kevin Thompson and Dale Bowen.
Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan United Methodist Church.
