Mr. Turley was a member of a Memphis family long active in civic, legal and business affairs. He worked with cotton merchants Anderson Clayton Co. and F.M. Crump and Co. In later years he became a member of the Henry Turley real estate company led by Henry Turley Jr., which among other things has been involved in the development of Harbor Town on Mud Island and the South Bluffs.
Mr. Turley was a member of St. John's Methodist Church where he was chairman of its board of stewards. The church sponsored Church Health Center was recently named in his honor. He was a graduate of Memphis University School and attended Southwestern, now Rhodes College.
He leaves his wife, Cordelia Jones Turley; two sons, Henry Turley Jr. and Calvin Turley; a sister, Mary Lou Turley, all of Memphis; and two grandsons.
