Stephen F. Joseph, 41, of Medina, died Saturday, Dec. 11, 1993, at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Mr. Joseph was a devoted husband, loving father and avid OSU fan. He was born in Westerville, Ohio and was a Medina County resident for the past 18 years. Mr. Joseph was employed for 18 years as a 4-H agent with the Ohio State University Extension Office of Medina County. He also developed a 4-H therapeutic horseback riding program for handicapped youth begun in 1978 and was recognized by the organization as "a source of great pride to the 4-H program. He was a member of the Ohio Cooperative Extension Agents Association since 1975. He was the past president of Noon Kiwanis, a Kiwanis Hall of Fame inductee, a former Medina Toastmaster, member of the Isaac Walton League, a Medina General Hospital trustee, Ohio 4-H Foundation Board member, OSU Epsilon Sigma Phi National Honorary Extension Fraternity and was a 4-H adviser. Mr. Joseph also received the Meritorious Service Award in 1983, the distinguished service award from NAE for 4-H Agents in 1986, was a life member of the Ohio State Alumni Association and a member of the Medina County Farm Bureau. He also won the 1984 Medina Jaycees Distinguished Service Award. Other mayor contributions of his include piloting the Cloverbud 4-H program and writing several project books such as Rustic Camping, Ohio Wildflowers, Recreational Horsemanship and Model Building/Scalecraft. He is survived by his wife, son and daughter, parents C. Fred and Helen Joseph of Utica, Ohio; sisters and brothers. He also is survived by many nieces and nephews. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Martyrs Catholic Church, 3100 S. Weymouth Road, Medina. Visiting hours: 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Waite & Sons Memorial Home, 765 N. Court St., Medina. Further services will be held at the Utica Methodist Church 626 North St., Utica, Ohio, on Thursday, Dec. 16. The family will receive friends at the church from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will be a private family burial. In recognition of Mr. Joseph's dedication and service to 4-H youth, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Medina County 4-H Endowment Fund, 144 N. Broadway St., Medina, Ohio 44256.
