Mr. Roy Shaw, age 81, of Holly Pond, passed away Friday afternoon. He was born in Cullman County, Alabama to James E. and Mamie Ellard Shaw. Mr. Shaw graduated from Holly Pond High School and was a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Pond since age 9 and a well know and respected businessman in the area. He was also a life long member of Holly Pond Lions Club, received the Lions Club International "Melvin Jones Fellow' award for Humanitarian Services, member Cullman County Industrial Development Board 1985-1993, member of CRMC Medical Foundation Board 1992, Board Chairman 1977 - 2007 of People's Bank of Alabama and insturmental in starting the bank in Holly Pond, and owner of Shaw's Seafood among other business he was involved in. Mr. Shaw served in the U.S. Army and was medically discharged from injuries received in the Korean War. He received a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service and injuries. He is preceeded in death by his parents; son, Greg Shaw; brother, Marvin Shaw. Survivors are his wife, Laudine Shaw (Holly Pond); daughter, Terri Shaw (Cullman); brother, Donald (Eutheria) Shaw; Sisters, Christine (Emmit) Wise and Sue (Clyde) Morris; Two grandsons, Kyle and Kerry Shaw; three great grandchildren, Pyper Shaw, Mallorie Shaw and Kanaan Shaw; Becky Corley, mother of Kyle and Kerry Shaw; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Pallbearers are Robin Cummings, Alan Walker, Terry Walker, Tim Walker, Whitt Drake, Brian Witcher, Chris Sawyer and Steve Freeman. Honorary pallbears Tom Drake, Jasper Estes and Mrs. Candace Hooten.
