The funeral for Cyrus "D. C." Armstrong, 89, will be 2 PM Friday at Prairie View Baptist Church, Elk City. The Rev. Kendell Hamilton will officiate. Burial will be in Sayre – Doxey Cemetery. Arrangements are by Martin Funeral Home, Elk City.

He was born June 10, 1915, in Beckham County to D. C. Sr. and Omega Bonds Armstrong and died Monday, February 7, 2005, in Helena.

He married Joyce Blanche Cupp May 25, 1935, in Sayre. They made their home in Kansas from 1941 to 1956 and lived the remainder of their years in Elk City. He trained and raced thoroughbred horses and traded cattle as his occupation. He was a member of Thoroughbred Horseman Association and Prairie View Baptist Church.

Surviving are two children, Darla Jean Unruh of Goltry and Dannie Bob Armstrong of Warren, Ohio; two sisters, Alpha Rollins of California and Isabell McCauley of Arizona; one brother, R. F. Armstrong of Elk City; seven grandchildren; 20 great – grandchildren; and 16 great – great – grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, a son, one brother and three sisters.
