He played the positions of midfielder on the school's soccer team and third baseman on the baseball team. He also was a finalist in a computer-aided drafting competition. According to his coaches, he possessed "a good work ethic," enthusiasm, and he "lived for soccer."
Jonathan was survived by his parents; two sisters, Crystal L. Butler of Waco, Tex. and Britteny Rhea Butler of Wood River; a brother, Michael "Shane" Butler of Wood River; and many friends.
