Murielle was born to Sigurd and Alice Johnson Wallstedt in Juneau. The family lived in San Francisco, later moving to Queen Anne Hill in Seattle. Murielle graduated from Queen Anne High School in 1939, and married Lewis Abbett in July, 1942. The couple lived in Ballard, the Denny Park area on Lake Washington, Woodinville, and Bothell.

Murielle studied violin and voice through her teen years and sang with the Lake Washington Singers and the Cascadian Chorale as an adult. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary for over 60 years. In the 50's, she led Girl Scout Troop 754 in Kirkland. Murielle was well-known to customers and employees alike as a sales person in the Men's department of the Bellevue Square Frederick and Nelson. Following their retirement, Lewis and Murielle enjoyed fifth wheeling.

Lewis predeceased Murielle in August, 2005. Murielle is survived by her children, Nancy Jones Downing (Mike) of Billings, MT, and R. Roy Abbett (Michele Rogers) of Bothell, WA; grandchildren Jeff Jones and Jennifer Jones Hurwitz, and Ron, Ryan and Rob Abbett; and great granddaughters, Elsa Menter Jones and Piper Hurwitz.

Nancy and Roy express their appreciation to Laura Nielsen and her staff at Finn Hill Haven adult family home for the wonderful care they gave Murielle in the last ten years of her life.
