Married Doris E Eastman April 3, 1926 Maine

Thomas A. Downey was born April 9, 1880, to Benjamin "Clark" and Margaret (Martha) E. Downey of Clairmont, Missouri. When Thomas was only 5-years old, his father Benjamin died.

Shortly after Thomas' brother Hugh got married, Thomas left Missouri. He enlisted in the US Army on October 18, 1904, and was assigned to Fort Preble, Maine. On March 18, 1912, Thomas married a 24-year-old widow, Emma Louise (Dyer) Pierce. (Thomas may have deployed to Europe during World War 1, but I could find no evidence of such a deployment.)

Around 1920, Thomas and Emma divorced. On April 3, 1926, Thomas married Doris E. Eastman. In 1929, Doris gave birth to their son Arthur E. Downey. On October 31, 1934, and after 30 years of service, Thomas retired from the Army. Ironically, although Thomas was a career military man, he did not live long enough to witness the end of World War 2.

Although Thomas and Doris lived many years in Portland, Maine, they were both buried in Doris' home state of New Hampshire.
