Sue Lelise Stone was born on May 5, 1937 in Seattle, WA to Dwight and Dorothy Thomas. During her growing years they lived in Seattle, Pasco and Spokane as her father was reassigned to different offices with the Telephone Company. Sue was an active Girl Scout and was selected to represent Washington State at the national level during her High School years, and later served as a Camp Counselor in the Spokane area. Upon graduation from High School in Spokane, Sue attended Idaho State, majoring in Physical Education. On December 30, 1957, Sue married Daryl Stone of Edmonds, WA, and traveled with him to Massachusetts and Pennsylvania in conjunction with his work. In 1960 they returned to the Seattle area and took up residence in Alderwood Manor. To this union a son, William Leroy, and a daughter, Catherine Marie, were born. She was active in her children's school activities and was a Room Mother, hosting many Ice Cream Parties for her children's classes. She and Daryl became involved in the Edmonds Jaycees, where she served as President of the Wives Club. As her children grew older and participated in Junior Soccer, she was an avid "Soccer Mom" for the next ten years, supporting them as they competed at State and National levels. The family was also very active in camping and various other outdoor activities. Her life was dedicated to her husband, children and grandchildren. In 1975 she joined The Boeing Company, working in the Tooling Department of the Commercial Airplane Division, ultimately attaining a Management position at the Auburn Facility. She retired in 1995 along with her husband, and they entered into a "Life on the Road" in their Motor Home, where she became a skilled snowmobiler, Walleye fisherman (at times out- fishing Daryl) and photographer as they traveled extensively throughout the Midwest, Southwest and Alaska. Sue was a practicing Christian, having been baptized at Westgate Chapel in Edmonds, and presently attended the Arlington Free Methodist Church. She also enjoyed the many church services in the various Villages, Towns and Cities during their travels. She is survived by her husband, Daryl; her son William, his wife Stacy and their three children, Briana, Daniel and Jeremy; her daughter Catherine Stone-Fleming and husband, Arthur, and grandchildren Erica and Ty; two brothers, Frank Richard Thomas and his wife, Barbara of Spokane; and Dwight Thomas, Jr., and his wife Nova; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Her interment will be on the Hillside Pathway at Floral Hills in Lynnwood, WA. A memorial service will be held for Sue at the Arlington Free Methodist Church in Arlington, WA January 4, 2003 at 1:00 p.m.
