Mr. Binkley died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at his home. He was born October 20, 1935 in Omaha, Nebraska to Warren Jay and Elsie Victoria Peterson Binkley. He graduated from Beloit High School in Beloit, Kansas and attended East Central University in Ada.
He married Betty Duncan on June 1, 1956 at Norman, Oklahoma. Mr. Binkley was employed at Jan Frances Care Center and Ballard Nursing Center in the maintenance department until his retirement. Previously, he was co-owner and operator of Binkley-Nelms Furniture Store.
He was a longtime active member of the Asbury United Methodist Church, serving as Lay Speaker for many years. He taught Sunday School for years and was active in local and district church activities. Mr. Binkley was a Master Mason, York Rite, Past Patron of the Order of Eastern Star in Ada. He served as a DeMolay Dad, Rainbow Dad and worked with the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts of America. He assisted with the first hospice (Hospice of Pontotoc, a volunteer hospice) in Ada. Mr. Binkley served in the U. S. Navy from 1954 until 1958.
Survivors include his wife, Betty, of the home; his five children, Steven Binkley and his wife Suzy of Enid, Stephanie Cates and her husband Roger of Ada, Sherry Melisa Jennings and her husband Jerry Baxter of Bartlesville, Johnna McVeigh and her husband Jeff of Watauga, TX and DeAnna Marshall and her husband Chuck of Houston, TX; 16 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.
