VALLEY - Mr. Elmer James Latham, 82, of Valley died Tuesday, May 1, 2007 at his residence.

Graveside services are planned for Friday, May 4 at 11 a.m. at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Stanley Dukes officiating.

Mr. Latham is survived by his son, Douglas E. (Pat) Gray of Millbrook, Ala.; a granddaughter, Gina (Mark) Dismukes of Prattville, Ala.; three grandsons, Bruce (Shaygrene) Gray of Elmore, Ala., Ken (Jamee) Gray of Millbrook and Jason (Regan) Gray of Prattville; three great-granddaughters, Danielle Gray, Bailey Dismukes and Shamberly Smith; four great-grandsons, D.J. Gray, Justin Gray, Kyle Gray and James Mark Dismukes; a sister, Clessie Freeman of Valley; a sister-in-law, Annie Latham of Valley; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Latham was born Nov. 7, 1924 in Clay County. He was a retired employee of WestPoint Pepperell's Fairfax Mill with 49 years of service with the company. Mr. Latham was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Ruth Latham, and his great-grandson, Cameron Shane Gray.

The family will receive friends Thursday, May 3 from 6 until 8 p.m. at Johnson Brown-Service Funeral Home in Valley.
