Mrs. Willie Jean Stokes, 80 of Marietta, passed away Thursday, July 31, 2014, at her home.

Jean was born March 7, 1934, in Ringgold, a daughter of the late William T. and Nora Hargis Harden. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Glenn Stokes Sr.; and her sister, Martha Rien.
.
She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Cindy Stokes, Glenn Stokes Jr. and Elaine Stokes of Hurst, Texas, Kenneth Stokes of Rocky Face; daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie Esslinger of Tunnel Hill, Glenda and Jeff McNeeley of Rocky Face, Patricia Harmon of Akron, Ohio, Deborah Stokes of Chattanooga, Paula Cargill of Rocky Face; sister, Mary Robinson of Rocky Face; loving friend, Don Speegle of Marietta; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Willie Jean Stokes will be Sunday at 6 p.m. from Ponders Melrose Chapel with Paulette Briggs officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Well Star Community Hospice at 4040 Hospital West Drive, Austell, GA 30106, in her memory.
