Mr. James Robert Johnston, 72, died early last Saturday morning in the Houston County Hospital, Warner Robins, Ga., where he was carried a few days before. He had been ill for a long time. Before his health failed he conducted a barber shop and grocery on the Linton Highway and had many friends. Funeral services were held Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Knowles Chapel Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Mixon officiating, assisted by the Rev. Donald Andrews and the Rev. Chester L. Weatherford.
Burial was in the church cemetery with Masonic honors.
Patterson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
Surving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth Griffith Johnston; one daughter, Mrs. William H. Jones (Anna Ruth) of Warner Robbins. Three sisters, Mrs. G.M. Johnson of Milledgeville; Mrs. B.P. Hayes of Sparta; Mrs. W.S. Combs, of Warren, Michigan. One brother, Henry G. Johnston, of Milledgeville. Three grandchildren, W.H. Jones, Jr., Vera Ellen and Robert Jones.
The pallbearers were: Messrs. W.H. Lovejoy, Jr., Roy Sanders, M.G. Pound, Sr., Walter Alfriend, Ed A. Reese and Charlie Friedman.
