Stanley James (Stub) Ellis, 61, of Waverly passed away Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009 at the Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre.
Born Oct. 19, 1947 in Sayre, the son of Helen M. Simonds and the late Stanley John Ellis and beloved husband of Rosa Ann (Howe) Ellis. His sister Veronica Conrad also predeceased Stanley. Stanley was a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Milltown American Legion Post. Stanley worked as a truck driver and mechanic for Simonds and Sons. He is best known for his work at Shade Tree Mechanic. He was an avid NASCAR fan and his favorite driver was Carl Edwards. He is survived by his wife Rosa Ann (Howe) Ellis at home; his mother Helen M. (Simonds) Ellis; his son James C. (Shelly Trollman) Ellis of Waverly; his daughters Rosalynn (Harmon, Jr.) Dudash of Athens, Cristie M. Ellis and Mistie A. Ellis, of Waverly; his granddaughter Aleah G. Dudash; brother Gary D. Ellis of Waverly; sisters Bonnie Griffith of Waverly and Christine Young of Athens; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 18 at noon at the Luckner Funeral Home, 449 Park Ave., Waverly. Pastor J. Steven Reynolds will officiate. Family and friends are invited to call on the family at the funeral home from 10 a.m. to noon Friday. Internment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Waverly. Those wishing may direct memorial donations in Stanley’s name to the Milltown American Legion Post.
