Funeral Services will be held 10:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5th at Augustana Lutheran Church in Underwood with Pastor Anna Haugen officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleharbor Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to time of service at the church.
Richard was born July 13, 1927 on a farm near Max, ND, the youngest son of Jacob & Katharine (Wagner) Buchert. He attended school near Max and in Coleharbor, ND. Richard worked as a heavy equipment operator on the construction phase of the Garrison Dam.
On June 23, 1957, he married Bernice Hougom at Towner, ND. They made their home living on a farm northwest of Underwood. Richard was a cattleman and grain farmer and especially enjoyed operating equipment. His pride and joy was his 1952 Packard car which he purchased new and ran through many local parades.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Bernice of Underwood; one daughter, Dee Ann Buchert of Fargo; one son and daughter-in-law, Bruce & Frankie Buchert of Hazen; one sister, Lorraine Zwicker of Bismarck; and many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
