Rev. James R. Plummer, Jr. was a well-loved and highly respected Methodist minister and educator. He was first married to Sarah Ann Elizabeth Ford of Athens, AL in 1851. They had one child, Martha Louetta Plummer. After Sarah passed away, he married Laura Ann Wharton of Huntsville, AL in 1857. They had six daughters.
