Friends may call at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Chippewa Falls on Saturday, March 11, 2006, from 11 a.m. until noon. A Mass of Christian burial will follow beginning at noon, with Fr. William Felix officiating. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls.
The former Irene Eleanor Goulet was born on August 3, 1911, in Chippewa Falls, to the late Homer and Mary (Langevin Goulet. On June 5, 1944, she was united in marriage with George O'Brien in Faribault, Minn. Irene worked for 26 years in the men's department at Johnson Hills in Wisconsin Rapids.
Survivors include two sons, Richard (Elizabeth) Shiels of Faribault, Minn., and Patrick (Carlyn) Shiels of Beaver Dam; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Betty Goulet of Chippewa Falls; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant daughter, Shirley Shiels; five brothers, Earl, Wilbur, Elmer, Francis and Orville Goulet; and a sister, Agnes Raehling; and an infant sister, Lillian.
The family suggests that memorials be made in Irene O'Brien's name to the charity of your choice.
