Survivors include a sister, Shirley Mathes of Bellingham, Wash.; two brothers, Philip Rummells of Cedar Rapids, and Gene Rummells of Arkansas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and six brothers and sisters.
Ruth was born Jan. 27, 1916, in West Branch, to William and Mabel Rummells. She was employed at Rockwell Collins, working in production for many years. She married Francis J. Slach in 1939 and he died in 2004. Together they enjoyed square dancing, and spent the winters in Mesa, Ariz.
