He was born October 19, 1934, in Freeport; the son of the late Edward and Alice (Buss) Foat. Howard had served in the United States Army. He had farmed in the Stockton and Warren areas and worked at Kolb-Lena Cheese Factory.
Howard loved to travel the country, especially to visit his family. While he was travelling he would collect rocks from the places he visited, he enjoyed collecting various items. He also loved reading and birds. Howard was also an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
He is survived by his children, Dean Foat of Freeport, IL, Jeanette (Kenneth) Kuendel of Dale City, VA, and Carol (Dennis) Jones of Thornton, CO; three grandchildren, Victoria, Howard, and Corey; and two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Rylee.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Eugene Foat.
Howard's family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the nurses and staff of both the Lena Living Center and FHN Memorial Hospital for the kind and personal care Howard received during his time there.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2014, at the Hermann Funeral Home in Stockton; Pastor Brenda Morris presiding. There will be a visitation prior to the service beginning at 10 a.m. Interment will take place at Townsend Cemetery at 3 p.m. Sunday, September 14, 2014. A memorial fund has been established for the Stockton Veteran's Memorial.
