DRYDEN, Va. — Beulah Blair, 98, of the Deep Springs community passed away Wednesday morning (Sept. 10, 2014) at NHC Healthcare, Johnson City, Tenn.
She was a member of Deep Springs Baptist Church for 80 years, Lee County Farm Bureau and Dryden Ruritan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Barney Blair; two sons, John Buford and Harrold Dean; parents, Sherman and Florence McConnell; five sisters and four brothers.
She is survived by one son, Darryl and wife Iris of Johnson City, Tenn.; grandaughter, Sheryl Garland and husband Ray, of Johnson City; grandson, Keith Blair and wife Ruthie of Bristol, Tenn.; five great-grandchildren, Chad Garland and wife Katherine of Katy, Texas, Phillip Garland and fiancee Becca Taylor of Johnson City, Rebekah Heacock and husband Nathan, Paul Blair and John Blair of Bristol, Tenn.; three great-great-grandchildren, Kaley, Eli, and Piper Garland of Katy; one brother, Morris Mc-Connell of Whiting, New Jersey.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at Sturgill Funeral Home in Pennington Gap, Va., with funeral services following at 7 p.m. with Rev. John Zion officiating.
Committal graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday morning in the Powell Cemetery Cemetery in Dryden, Va., with Rev. Rick Phillips, Pastor of Deep Springs Baptist Church officiating.
Pallbearers will be grandson, Keith Blair; and great-grandsons, Chad Garland, Phillip Garland, Paul Blair, John Blair and Nathan Heacock.
At Beulah’s request in lieu of flowers donations are asked to be made at The Gideons, that God’s word might go out.
Sturgill Funeral Home of Pennington Gap is in charge of the arrangements.
