Taunton - Alvin Frank Faunce, 66, of Raynham passed away on Saturday September 6, 2014 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of Katrine (Kirkegard) Faunce for over 42 years. Alvin was born in Stoughton and was the son of the late Julius A. Faunce and Martha (Adams) Faunce. He grew up in Randolph and graduated from Randolph High School in 1966. He lived in Raynham for past 43 years.
Alvin was honorably discharged from the Army Reserves in 1972 as a Specialist Five in the 187th Maintenance Support Battalion. He enlisted in 1966 at the Hingham-Cohasset USAR Center.
Alvin was a retired heavy equipment mechanic and formerly an automotive mechanic and commercial roofer. He was an active member of the Raynham Lions Club. Alvin was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Survivors include a son, Jesse Alvin Faunce and his wife Victoria M. Faunce, of Raynham; a sister Katherine E Komich, of Harrison, Maine; two grandchildren, Cole Benjamin Faunce and Bradley Thomas Faunce, both of Raynham; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Joan K. Bailey of South Windsor, Connecticut and his brother-and sister-in law, Neil and Marlene Kirkegard of Raynham.
Alvin enjoyed spending time in his garage with his son on many projects over the years. He had the ability to repair anything. Other hobbies included hunting, fishing, and in his younger years, he enjoyed racing at Norwood Arena and Lakeville.
His funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2014 at 9 am with a funeral service to begin at 11 am in The Crapo-Hathaway Funeral Home 350 Somerset Ave, Taunton. Interment will follow in Pleasant St Cemetery, Raynham. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Raynham Lions Club, to either its local Eyeglass Program or Eye Research, P.O.
