Major League Baseball Player: The brother of Lou Chiozza, he was a shortstop, and, unlike his brother, his Major League career was brief, consisting of just 2 appearances for the 1935 Phillies where he scored 1 run. Like his brother, he called Memphis, Tennessee, his home, although he was born in New Orleans. He attended the Christian Brothers High School, starring on the baseball, basketball, track football and handball teams. A very good player in the minors, he played with clubs such as Jersey City of the International League, Memphis, and Clarksdale of the East Dixie League among others. During World War II he served with the 87th Infantry Division. He later owned a liquor store for many years with his brother Lou. Of Italian decent, he was extremely religious, belonging to many Catholic organizations, and was a highly respected layman at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Memphis. He died of cancer two months shy of his 60th birthday in 1972.
