Waverly-Glenn Edward Carter, 62 of Waverly, passed away early Wednesday morning (September 10, 2014) at his residence following a brief illness.

Born in Folkston, GA., his parents are the late Clarence Eugene and Winnie Lee Carter, of Waverly. He was also preceded in death by a son, Glenn Russell Carter.

Glenn worked as a Shrimper for many years on his own boat and also for Jim Godley. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with family and was of the Baptist Faith.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Mae Carter, of St. Mary's; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald "Donny" Pearson (Jo), of Woodbine; 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Sonya Johnson (Charles), of Ft. Carson, CO, and Amanda Marr (Phillip), of Folkston, GA.; 11 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; his mother, Winnie Lee Carter, of Waverly; 3 brothers and a sister-in-law, Thomas Carter (Gwen), of Waynesville, Timmy Carter, of Woodbine, and David Carter, of Waverly; 3 sisters, Anita Chandler, of Woodbine, Melinda Briggs, also of Woodbine, and Angie Carter, of Waverly. Also several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation will be held Friday evening (September 12, 2014) starting at 6PM at Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta.

A Graveside Service will be held Saturday afternoon (September 13, 2014) at 1PM at The Colesburg Cemetery, in Waverly.

Pallbearers will be Steve Nipper, Jesse Lanier, Marty Collins, Robert Collins, Jason Ammons, and Hank Higginbotham.

In Lieu of flowers family ask donations be given toward services.

Arrangements are with Frye Funeral Home, Nahunta.
