Life Legacy

CROWLEY – Services celebrating the life of Marian Margaret Buchanan Baker, 67, will be held at Crowley First United Methodist Church on Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 11:00 a.m.

Officiating will be Rev. Charlie Crews and Rev. Grady Brittain. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests visitation to be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home.

Margaret was born in Crowley, LA, April 23, 1947. She is a graduate of Northeast Louisiana University in Monroe, LA, where she obtained her bachelor’s degree in home economics. Margaret was active in her community and was devoted to her family and her church, sharing her many talents, which included teaching, cooking, sewing, decorating, and choir.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Malcolm Baker; her two daughters, Elizabeth B. Hill and her husband Clark of Tallulah, LA, Emily B. Bruyninckx and her husband, Jason of Rayville, LA; 4 grandchildren Margaret (Meg) Bruyninckx, Debra Bruyninckx, Emery Hill, and Baker Hill; 2 sisters, Alice Ann Schwendimann and husband Bob, and Clare Gaar.

Preceding Mrs. Baker in death were her parents M.M. (Buck) Buchanan and Vera Mae Cowen Buchanan; her brother-in-law, Don Royce Gaar.

Pall bearers will be John T. Bienvenu, Chris Brammer, Craig Brammer, Jason Bruyninckx, Stan Gall, Clark Hill, and Bob Schwendimann. Honorary Pallbearers will be Benny Baker, Roy Baker, Bobby Hendrix, Eddie Kincaid, and Lane Kincaid.

Her family deeply appreciates the continuous love and devotion of her caregivers: Dr. Debbie Johnson, Annette Dobson, Carolyn Deveaux, Roxanne Bourque, Hospice of Acadiana, and all others who showed acts of kindness.
