Exerpts from his obituary in the April 1947 Lenoir News Topic:
"Alfred Elisha Helton, seventy-six, well known musician and singing convention participant, of Hudson, died at the home at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday.
"Funeral services were conducted at Sardis Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. H.S. Benfield officiating, assisted by Rev. J.C. Crump. Burial followed in the church cemetery."
He was survived by three daughters.
