Frank T. Reuter, Ph.D., 88, a professor emeritus of history at TCU, passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014. Service: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday, St. Andrew Catholic Church. Burial: Laurel Land Memorial Park. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Thompson's Harveson and Cole with a rosary beginning at 5 p.m. Frank was born March 18, 1926, in Kankakee, Ill., to Frank and Evelyn Scott Reuter. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving from 1944-1946. An alumnus of the University of Illinois, he began teaching at TCU in 1962 and was recognized as the Honors Professor of the Year in 1967. He was dean of the Graduate School and chair of the History Department. He authored several books on American history. In 1991, he was a Fellow at the University of Durham, England. After having retired in 1992, he also taught at the Pazmany Peter Catholic University in Piliscsaba, Hungary. Frank enjoyed teaching, getting the best effort from his students, classical music, gardening, traveling and spending time with family. He was an active member of the St. Andrew's community. The family extends special thanks to Linda Parker. Frank was preceded in death by his son, Chris, and his brother, Jim. Survivors: Wife of 63 years, Kay; children, Mark Reuter (Diane), Steve Reuter (Barb), Ann Bradford (Robert) and Kathy Murzyn (John); grandchildren, Pete, Kristen, Melissa, Hank, Zoey, Allee, Maddie and Dane; and niece, Jan Webb.
