James "L" Gee passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at the age of 87 years in the residence where he had lived for over 52 years. His wife, Velma, was by his side as she had been for over 36 years. Graveside service: 11 a.m. Thursday in Moore Memorial Gardens. Longtime friend Tommie Condon, retired U.S. Air Force chaplain, will conduct the service. Friends may pay respects at Moore Funeral Home on Thursday after 10 a.m. He was born in Kennedale on Feb. 1, 1927. He served in the United States Navy on two occasions. First right after high school (North Side), he enlisted and then later was called into duty at the end of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Flora and Estelle Gee; his son, James William Gee; two sisters and brothers-in-law Maxine and Marion Nelson, Margaret and Corky Horn, Dale Foster; and his brother, Doyle Gee. He had been associated with Total Pharmacy Supply of Arlington for over 25 years. Prior to TPS he was with Snap Shots for 27 years. He was a wonderful husband, dad and "Poppa" who will be greatly missed. He loved his life, and really hung on. He always told Velma, "You can put on my tombstone I didn't want to go." Survivors: James is survived by his wife, Velma; stepson, Marty Walton and wife, Teresa, of Azle; daughter-in-law, Lainey Gee of Keller; sister, Jimmie Lou Foster of Phoenix, Ariz.; four grandsons; four great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and special nephew, Trey Kerr.
