History - Elizabeth was born in North Bradley, Wiltshire, England to Job Bevan and Jane Keates. She was raised in England and most of her life. She was twenty-two when she married William Alder, eight years her senior. Their married life was spent in that area.

William and Elizabeth had eleven children, seven boys and four girls. Elizabeth was forty-five years old when the youngest baby was born. When their baby was five years old, William died leaving Elizabeth at fifty to care for the six children under eighteen.

The Alder family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and set sail from Liverpool, England for the United States on March 5, 1844, on the ship, "Glasco". After six weeks on the ocean, they finally landed in New Oleans, Louisiana. From there they sailed up the Mississippi River to St. Louis, Missouri, and on to Nauvoo, Illinois.

Elizabeth crossed the Plains with her son, Alfred, in the Claudius Spencer's Wagon Train leaving from Kanesville, Missouri. The journey lasted 113 days. Elizabeth had her sixtieth birthday in Wyoming three weeks before they entered the Salt Lake Valley. The family settled in Kaysville, Utah.

In the early spring of 1860, many Saints were called to relocate and colonize Idaho, Alfred and George her sons, were among those called.

Elizabeth passed away in Farmington, Utah.
