Tom “Tommy” Hollis, 71, of Canyon died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2014.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel with Lewis Holland officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. in Miami Cemetery in Miami. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Tommy was born May 21, 1943, in Canadian. He served in the Navy from November 1961 to September 1965. Tommy graduated from Miami High School, attended West Texas State University from 1966 to 1967, and earned an Associate’s degree from Amarillo College in 1969.

He married Karen Lyons on June 13, 1963, in Pampa. Tommy worked as an engineer for 47½ years for Pantex. He enjoyed playing slow-pitch and fast-pitch softball and was inducted into the Fast Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in Oklahoma City. Tommy was an avid WT athletic booster.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Karen Hollis of Canyon; a daughter, Tomi Hollis and partner Kim Lewis of Fort Worth; a son, Tim Hollis of Canyon; a sister, Katrina Middleton of Houston; his brothers, John Wilsher and wife Lou of Carlsbad, N.M., Norman Wilsher and wife Penny of Ransom Canyon and J.R. Hollis and wife Sarah of Pampa; and numerous nephews and nieces.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
