Ryan Cole Murphy was tragically taken from this earth while on his way home from Texas Tech University on Sept. 5, 2014. Ryan and his sister, Kylie, were on their way home to celebrate Ryan's 20th birthday with their family. Ryan was born September 5, 1994 in Round Rock, Texas – just 10 ½ months after his sister Kylie. He attended Brushy Creek Elementary, Cedar Valley Middle School and graduated from McNeil High School in 2013.

Ryan was an amazing athlete and started competing in sports at a very young age. He even began holding a football before he could walk. Ryan dabbled in almost every type of sport as he grew up, however, his true passion was playing football. While at McNeil High School in 2011, Ryan was named to the 2nd Team All District Team as a Wide Receiver & Kick Returner and then in 2012 he was named to the 1st Team All-District Team as a Wide Receiver & Kick returner. Ryan was also a member of McNeil's track team and ran in several different races throughout his high school years. During his senior year, Ryan was on the 4x400 relay team and they qualified for and ran in the Texas State Relays held at The University of Texas.

After high school, Ryan went to college at the University of Mary Hardin Baylor where he played slot receiver for his freshman year and he assisted the Crusaders in getting to the Div III NCAA Semi-finals. Although Ryan loved UMHB, he had always wanted to go to Texas Tech since he was a little boy and therefore this fall, he transferred to Tech as a sophomore. He was a Business major and recently became a Sigma Nu fraternity pledge. Ryan never gave up his dream to play football at Texas Tech for his beloved Red Raiders and was hoping to walk-on to the team in the spring of 2015.
Ryan was extremely fun-loving and was quick witted in any situation. He loved to make people laugh and was always the life of the party. Ryan loved to hunt, fish and watch his favorite baseball team – the NY Yankees. He was such a serious Yankee fan that he would literally plan his social calendar around all of the Yankees games. Although Ryan was tough as nails during any sports activity, he had a very sensitive & gentle soul. He was great with children and his little cousins adored him. He loved them so much and he would always say that he couldn't wait for the day when he would be able to marry and have his own children.

Everyone always looked forward to Ryan walking in the door because he brought the room to life with his light-hearted energy and his trademark hair flip. Ryan was his momma's baby boy and his dad's little buddy.

Ryan and Kylie were part of the "Red Raider Nation" and the "McNeil Maverick Family". Although their lives were cut way too short, they touched many lives and will be desperately missed by all that knew them - none more than their parents, Pat and Michelle, and their best friend and beloved big sister Natassia (Tasha). Kylie and Ryan were truly amazing people and the world is a much lesser place without them.

Words cannot express our heartfelt thanks to the many people that have reached out to our family during this time of need. We are extremely grateful for our incredible family and friends that have literally carried us through our darkest hours and lifted our hearts with their tireless work and companionship to support our broken hearts.

Our "Irish Twins" were preceded in death by their grandfathers, Bob Lampert and Cole Murphy as well as their grandmother Hilda Murphy. Kylie and Ryan are survived by their parents, Patrick and Michelle Murphy, and sister Natassia West. They are also survived by grandmothers Barbara Lampert and Lois Murphy, along with 13 aunts and uncles and 15 cousins.

Services will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (9500 Neenah Ave, Austin 78717) at 10:30am. Reception immediately following at the Brushy Creek Community Center, 16318 Great Oaks Drive, Round Rock 78681.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers any donations can be made to the benefit of Kylie and Ryan through First Texas Bank of Round Rock or PAYPAL: [email protected]
