Jack Leo Matthews, Jr.

Jack Leo Matthews, Jr., age 55, of Carrollton, died Wednesday, September 3, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Quantico, Virginia on September 8, 1958, the son of the late Jack L. Matthews, Sr. and the late Anna Jones Matthews. He moved from Orange County, California to this area in 1988. He attended West Georgia College and was employed by Argos America as a utility engineer. Jack was an all-around "good guy", and when you met him the first time, you never forgot him. He had a very genuine personality that made people just want to be around him. He will be greatly missed by many.

Survivors include his wife of twenty years, Connie McElroy Matthews and his daughter, Milana (Millie) Matthews, both of Carrollton; his mother-in-law, Mildred B. McElroy of Carrollton and various brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; two brothers, Robin Matthews of Midway City, California and Kelly Matthews of San Diego, California; one sister, Joy Witkowski and her husband, John, of Midway City, California; an uncle, Paul Jones and his wife, Barbara, of Osprey, Florida; an aunt, Rosemary Jones of Irvine, California; a number of cousins, nieces and nephews; and more close friends that anyone can imagine for such a short lifetime.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, September 6, 2014, at 3:00 P.M. from the chapel of the J. Hoyt Thomas Funeral Home with Brother Gary Lawrence officiating and the eulogy by Cynthia Daley. Music will be provided by Jim Camp.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday, September 6, 2014, from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring to do so may make a memorial contribution to a college trust fund for Jack's daughter Millie. All checks should be made payable to Milana Michelle Matthews/For Deposit Only and mailed to Wells Fargo Bank, 848 Bankhead Highway, Carrollton, GA 30117. A notation should be put on the check - "College Trust Fund".

In accordance with his wishes, the body has been cremated.
