Mrs. Frances Parr Stephenton, died on July 22nd. at the home of her daughter Mrs. David Wesley Long, near Sparta, after being confined to her bed for 18 months.
Mrs. Stephenton, who was 87 years of age, was born in Franklin County. She was the widow of David Wesley Stephenton, a pioneer settler of Hancock County, She was a member of the Methodist Church and Interment was in the Zebulon cemetery last Sunday morning at eleven o'clock, her pastor Rev. R.W. Green officiated.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. D.W. (Fannie Lou) Long and Mrs. A.S. (Carrie Belle) Johnson; twelve grandchildren, Mrs. W.F. Epps, Mrs. R.L. Ramey, Mrs. George Anderson, Mrs. Ernest (Nora) Kinney, Mrs. Harvey (Estelle) Hamm; Messrs. Frank Long, Albert, Merritt, Bert, John, William and Woodrow Johnson; twenty three great grandchildren; one great great grandchild and a nephew, Mr. William Parr of Decatur, Georgia.
One granddaughter, Mrs. Willie Roberts preceded her to the grave last January. Her body was interred beside the graves of her four children and her husband who has been dead 42 years. She was a woman of high Christian character
and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. The following served as pall bearers; Frank Long, George Anderson, Albert Johnson, Merritt Johnson, William Johnson, William Johnston and David Ramey.
